Band photo of The KingmiXers

A great lineup of seasoned players, The KingmiXers play the blues with humour, energy, and a wide range of styles. Every show delivers Preston’s fiery harmonica, keys and soulful vocals, supported by Anita Bonkowski and Rick Erickson’s deep rhythmic grooves on bass and drums. It’s all capped off by the vocals and tasty guitar playing of David Schade.

Gary Preston – vocals, harmonica, keyboards; Gary has played Canada, US, Europe, the Winnipeg Folk Festival, Calgary International Blues Festival and International Jazz Festival; he’s shared the stage with James Cotton, Eric Burdon, Colin James, The Ray Charles Orchestra, and more.

Anita Bonkowski – drums; Anita has played numerous blues and jazz festivals and clubs across North America and Europe. She has performed with Canadian bluesmen like Jack de Keyser, Kenny ‘Blues Boss’ Wayne, David Vest, and David Gogo. She also has played outside the blues genre, backing the likes of Johnny Mathis, Englebert Humperdink, The Moody Blues, and a David Foster event with Sarah McLaughlin, Kenny G, and Josh Groban.

David Schade – guitar & vocals; David began a life-long relationship with the blues after being exposed to the music of Elmore James in the 1960s. He was fortunate to have seen many of the greatest generation of electric blues players like Howlin’ Wolf, Freddie King, Muddy Waters and countless other masters. After a decade of playing professionally, David became interested in understanding the nature of the universe and took a hiatus from guitar to study astrophysics. Now he’s back playing the blues with passion and with a unique style.

Rick Erickson – bass; Rick is gifted with what makes a great bass player–a steady groove and an acute ear. As well as being a great bassist, Rick has had a storied career as a music producer. Here and in Alberta he’s worked with the best, both on stage and in the studio.
