Title: Little Town Christmas Organizer
My journey began in South Wales, followed by early years in Africa and various Canadian towns, including Thompson, Manitoba, Grand Cache, Alberta, Edmonton, and Duncan, until I finally settled in Saltair.
My educational path led me to Mount Brenton Elementary School and later to Chemainus Secondary School, where I graduated. I continued my education in the Culinary Arts Program at what was then Malaspina College in Nanaimo, gaining experience in restaurant and hotel kitchens, both as a line cook and in management, before transitioning to construction jobs and eventually becoming a building manager.
My venture into volunteering began when my good friend Christina Godbolt persuaded me to join the Chemainus Little Town Christmas Society, an experience I thoroughly enjoyed. Following the society’s conclusion in 2023, I transitioned to the Cowichan Valley Arts Council when they graciously took over the event.
Throughout my life, my passion for photography has remained constant. I developed my first darkroom at the age of 14 and have been captivated by photography ever since. I find inspiration in a wide range of photographers, including the works of Ansel Adams, Pep Ventosa, Vivian Maier, and Florence Henri.
My appreciation for the arts and the individuals who gravitate toward them has always been a part of me, and I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to play a small role within the Cowichan Valley Arts Council.
