Having previously served on multiple community-based boards in Ontario, my retirement led me to the picturesque town of Chemainus on Vancouver Island.
The challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic made it particularly challenging to connect with new people in my new community. However, it was during this period that I discovered the Cowichan Valley Arts Council’s (CVCAS) Music in the Park series, which became a lifeline for my sanity.
Recognizing the invaluable role that the arts play in our lives, I made a conscious decision to volunteer with CVCAS, seeing it as an opportunity to give back to the community and infuse it with a fresh perspective. Through this involvement, I hope to contribute to the vibrant cultural landscape of Chemainus.
